This Cookie Policy explains how RouteCaster.app LLC ("RouteCaster," "we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) when you use RouteCaster (the "Service"). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We also use related technologies such as local storage, which lets the Service remember information (like your sign-in session) between visits. We refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" in this policy.

2. How we use them

We use cookies and local storage for the following purposes:

Essential (always on). Required for the Service to function — for example, keeping you signed in. RouteCaster stores your authentication token and basic account information in your browser's local storage so you don't have to log in on every page. Without these, core features will not work.
Preferences. Remember your settings, such as light/dark theme and map or routing preferences.
Analytics (optional). If enabled and where you have consented, help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. These are not set before you consent where consent is required.

3. Third-party cookies

Some features rely on third parties that may set their own cookies or use their own storage when their components load, including:

Stripe — payment processing and fraud prevention during checkout.
Mapbox — interactive maps and routing.
Error monitoring / analytics — where enabled, to detect issues and measure usage.

These providers process data under their own privacy and cookie policies. We do not control cookies set directly by third parties.

4. Managing your choices

Where required, we present a consent banner so you can accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can also control or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings. Note that blocking essential cookies/storage will sign you out and may prevent the Service from working. Clearing local storage will log you out of RouteCaster.

We may update this Cookie Policy as our practices or the technologies we use change. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date.
